I've been living in Thailand since '93, so I have seen and experienced a big part of how the internet evolved in Thailand. Renting out luxury studio's in the mid 90's a friend of mine quickly realized that internet access was becoming an important part for travelers. In those days visitors of the Kingdom were confined to internet cafe's for checking their e-mail. Back then some quite outrageous prices were charged, well in excess of 100 Baht/hour. Even the bigger hotels were very slow to pick up on the new trend! It became an instant hit, which each new customer becoming a regularly returning guest. |
